Ecommerce web design and development

An online store needs more than a homepage and a payment button. We agree your catalogue, product options, delivery rules and content, then design the browsing and buying journey around them. The proposal separates the build from subscriptions, paid themes, apps and ongoing support.

Choose the store platform around the business

Shopify suits a business wanting a dedicated store platform with hosting included in its plan. WooCommerce adds a shop to WordPress and needs separately arranged hosting and maintenance. I’ll discuss your catalogue, content, integrations and who will run the store before recommending either. Explore Shopify website design or WordPress website design for the platform-specific work.

Ecommerce Website Design essentials

Products customers can understand

Product descriptions, images, options and availability help buyers work out whether an item is right for them.

A clear route to checkout

Collections, navigation and filters should help customers find relevant products without unnecessary steps.

Ecommerce SEO foundations

Useful product and collection content, descriptive titles and internal links help search engines understand the shop. Rankings are never guaranteed.

Measure the buying journey

We agree tracking for product views, basket actions and purchases, with the required access and consent setup.

Shopping across screen sizes

Product options, navigation and basket routes are checked on mobile, tablet and desktop before handover.

How the work happens

Your products and customers

Share your catalogue, current store, delivery areas, launch priorities and any systems the shop must connect to.

Agree the platform and scope

We confirm Shopify or WooCommerce, product upload responsibilities, design work, fees and exclusions.

Plan the store journey

We map collections, product information, search, checkout routes and the content needed to support a purchase.

Build and review the shop

I develop the agreed design, configure the store and review content and key journeys with you.

Check, launch and hand over

We agree a safe order test, check the launch settings and show you how to manage products and orders.

Ecommerce Website Design questions

Scope, costs, responsibilities and what happens next.

Yes. Both are part of Xeon’s website work. The suitable choice depends on your products, content, integrations and management needs. Shopify includes hosting in its subscription; WooCommerce runs on WordPress with separate hosting and maintenance.

The quote depends on the design, catalogue, product options, migration and integrations. Build costs are separate from platform subscriptions, domains, paid apps, themes and agreed support. Share your requirements and I’ll set out the work and ongoing costs before starting.

Migration can be scoped after reviewing your current platform and data. We agree which products, images, customers and other records can move, along with URL mapping and redirects. Not every app or historical record transfers directly, so compatibility is checked first.

The proposal states who supplies the product data, photography and descriptions, who uploads them and the catalogue size included. You remain responsible for accurate product, delivery, pricing and business information. Additional content work is agreed separately.

We agree tests for representative products, options, delivery areas and checkout routes. Order testing uses the platform’s supported test method where available. We also check mobile usability and the agreed tracking; results depend on the final payment provider and integrations.

Yes. Ongoing store changes, maintenance and optimisation can be scoped after handover. Your agreement defines the work, access, priorities and costs. Support does not mean unlimited changes or a guarantee of sales.
